The short version

Faultsmith collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no servers. Everything you put into the app stays on your device, and the app works with no network connection at all.

What we collect

Nothing. Faultsmith has no user accounts, no sign-in, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and no advertising. It does not create a profile of you and does not transmit information about how you use it.

What stays on your device

All of it. The following is written to your device's local storage and is never uploaded anywhere:

  • The PDF manuals you import, and the index Faultsmith builds from them
  • Notes you type, including any readings you record during a test
  • Photos you take or attach in the notes pad
  • Markup you draw on manual pages, and pages you pin
  • Wire and component meanings you add yourself

Deleting the app removes all of it. There is no copy elsewhere, because no copy is ever made.

Camera and photo library

Faultsmith asks for camera and photo library access only when you attach a photo to a note — a meter reading, a nameplate, a connector. Those images are stored with your notes on the device. They are not uploaded, analysed, or shared. If you never use the photo button, the app never asks.

Your manuals

Faultsmith does not include, host, or distribute any manufacturer's service manuals. You import PDFs you already have the right to use, and they remain solely on your device. Faultsmith reads them locally to build its index and never sends their contents anywhere.

Network use

Faultsmith is built to work with no signal, because that is where the job happens. It makes no network requests in normal use and requires no connection to open a manual, look up a code, or take notes.

Children

Faultsmith is a professional tool intended for service technicians. It is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If Faultsmith ever gains a feature that would change any of the above, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the date at the top will change with it.
